SYNOPSIS: Torita-encuetada is an anti-colonial ceremony that through a fire ritual explores the liberation from the colonial yoke. It is an act of political remembrance, a call to return to earth honoring practices and a spiritual approximation to the Chontal and Mangue-Chorotega indigenous cosmovision for ancestral corpodivinities of the Pacific region in Nicaragua.

Currently in display (April-September 2024) at the Venice Biennale, as part of Foreigners Everywhere, curated by Adriano Pedrosa, International Pavilion. Venice, Italy
